LabDx is proud to announce the addition of the ImmunoCAP® allergy testing to our in-house testing menu, effective February 21, 2011. Because of the high rate of allergy related illness in the state of Kentucky, the need for a local provider and improved turn-around times allows for efficient and cost effective patient management for allergic disorders.
LabDx is the first and only reference lab in Kentucky to offer the ImmunoCAP® testing.
Respiratory Disease Profile – ORDER CODE: RESPV
For use in adults and school-aged children with suspected allergic rhinitis and/or asthma symptoms. This profile includes 26 indoor and outdoor allergens most prevalent in our geographic region. The profile provides a 95% positive predictive value for allergy confirmation.
Childhood Allergy Panel – ORDER CODE: CHILD
Recommended for children 3 months to 3 years of age. This profile contains the 15 most common food and indoor environmental allergens. (minimum specimen requirement – 1.2 ml serum)
Food Allergy Profile – ORDER CODE: FOOD
Includes 12 key food allergens that have been selected to reflect common food atopy in adults and children.
Individual Allergens – Specific codes vary
There are hundreds of individual allergens available on the ImmunoCAP® platform. For individual allergens, please contact our Customer Care Center for ordering information at 877-295-5522.
These profiles provide an accurate and convenient method of confirming or excluding atopy in patients with allergy-like symptoms. 1, 2 When used with a thorough patient history and physical examination, the test results provide objective, quantifiable evidence of IgE-mediated allergen sensitivity, which may be associated with atopic dermatitis, gastrointestinal disorders, recurrent otitis media, allergic rhinitis and allergic asthma.
ImmunoCAP® Technology
Phadia, makers of the ImmunoCAP® Specific IgE blood test, is the worldwide leader in allergy blood testing. ImmunoCAP® is considered the defacto reference standard in specific IgE testing. The ImmunoCAP® specific IgE blood test is an in vitro quantitative assay for the measurement of allergen-specific IgE in human serum or plasma. It is intended to be used as a diagnostic tool to aid in the clinical diagnosis of IgE mediated allergic disorders in conjunction with other clinical findings.
The basis of the innovative ImmunoCAP® technology is the 3 dimensional cellulose sponge matrix. This unique reaction environment allows for the binding of large amounts of clinically relevant allergen proteins, even those present in the native material at very low levels. The ImmunoCAP® 3 dimensional sponge reaction environment provides exceptional sensitivity and freedom from interference from other antibodies. The documented sensitivity, specificity, and reproducibility of the ImmunoCAP® Specific IgE blood test supports the unmatched accuracy of ImmunoCAP®.
